Hotel front desk software is designed to

charges, payments and adjustments, shows room availability, displays

that keeps track of room’s cleaned/dirty/freshened, maid
assignments, and maintenance reporting,
Hotel reservation software handles group and individual
reservations, has ability to look up room availability based on
type/location/non smoking, shows expected arrivals, cancellations,
yield management features, room blocking, shows rates (package,
seasonal, weekend, etc), email or print confirmation letters, and
real-time Internet reservations.
Night auditing, which provides records of revenue and expenses, is
also managed with hotel front desk software. This provides reporting
of sources of revenue, tracking of types of rooms that are being
sold, sources of business, payment methods, automatic posting of
guest room charges, charges and payments, house count, automatic
posting to back office, daily/monthly/yearly comparative reports.
Night auditing can also do inter-company posting for multiple
properties. Front desk software will also have direct
billing/accounts receivable capabilities, which keep track of hotel
accounts with auto-posting of charges, payments and automatic
transfer of advance deposits. Revenue can be tracked and managed by
keeping records of revenue per available room, average daily rate,
and percentage occupancy.
Other operations that can be interfaced with front desk software
include GDS/central reservations, PBX, voice mail, movies, keycard,
and point of sale.
